A Couple of Cuties – May Linky Party with Vintage Photo Creative Scraps

A Couple of Cuties – May Linky Party with Vintage Photo Creative Scraps

Hello, everyone and Happy May!  It’s the first Monday of this gorgeous new month, so you know what that means – Crafty Secrets Linky Party time!  This month’s challenge is “Anything Goes,” and I decided to play with the new Digital Vintage Photo Creative Scraps.  Here’s a look at the card I made:

They sure are a couple of cuties!  They came from the Vintage Photo scraps, as did the frame and sentiment.  I sized everything in Word and printed it out.  A little later in this post I’ve got a quick tutorial on how I made the little frame for the picture, so stick around!  The tag and other little goodies came from the Travel Creative Scraps.  I added some crumpled kraft paper behind the picture, stitched around the edges, and glued it all to a brown card base.  Here’s the inside:

I chose “Congratulations” to go on the inside because I thought this would make an adorable card for a newly married couple.  It could also work as an engagement card, or any other milestone for that matter!  Here’s a quick look at how I made the frame on the front:

Hello, everyone!  It’s Monday again, and we’re really getting close to Christmas – just 10 days now!  Crafty Secrets has a couple new sets of digital stamps, and I decided to use the new Vintage Santa stamp set for today’s card.  I also used papers and images from the Creating with Vintage Christmas CD #6.  Take a look:

I started by sizing the background paper in Word, then added the pretty frame from the CD.  Onto that, I layered the sheet music paper, then the Santa stamp, then printed it all out.  I also added the “toast” stamp onto another frame from the CD, then printed and fussy cut it.  I added lots of Glossy Accents and glitter glue to the frames for more pop.  Here’s the inside:

I repeated the paper and frame on the inside, and included the rest of the “Christmas Toast” stamp.  More Glossy Accents and some red paper, and I was done!

What do you think?  Are you ready for Christmas?

Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

Happy Monday!  I have a sweet winter card to brighten up the start of your week, made with Crafty Secrets items.  Take a look:

That darling little image came from the Christmas Images and Notes Booklet.  Aren’t they sweet little children?  I added some gold glitter around the edges then coated it with clear embossing powder for depth and stability.  I cut a frame for the picture with my Silhouette and added lots of glitter glue for extra sparkle!  I made the rosette with paper from the Creating with Vintage Christmas CD #6, then added leaves, ribbon, a snowflake, and pearls from my stash.

I used the same frame to create a note-writing space on the inside, then added a sticker from the Heavenly Christmas sticker sheet.  A couple glittery snowflakes later, and the card was done!

That’s it for me today!  Thanks for stopping by, have a lovely day!

Butterflies & Roses – a Vintage Birthday Card

Butterflies & Roses – A Vintage Birthday Card

Happy Friday, everybody!  Today I’m sharing a birthday card that I made using the Creating with Vintage Illustrations CD #2 from Crafty Secrets.  Take a look:

CD #2 is full of beautiful images like the one on this card – it practically made itself.  I sized the image in Word and added one of the frames from the CD for a little more interest around the corners, then printed the whole thing.  Then, I cropped the image down to just the butterfly at the bottom, printed that, and fussy cut the butterfly.  I added Stickles and Glossy Accents to the butterfly and let it dry, and the wings curled up perfectly all by themselves.

The tag I made with a scrap of cream cardstock and a stamp from my stash; I used my Exacto knife to cut around the flowers and tucked the tag right in!

On the inside, I used the same frame and another floral image from the CD:

That’s it for me, I’ve got to get cracking on some work so I can relax this weekend.  Don’t forget, you still have 3 days to play along with this month’s Linky Party!  Just for entering you get the new Retro Kitchen Digital Kit.

Have a lovely day!

Crafty Secrets Design Team Debut – Wishing You a Happy Birthday

Hello, everyone!  I’m very excited about today’s post because it is my first post as a new member of the Crafty Secrets Design Team!  I’m so happy to be working with the talented ladies on the team an am looking forward to sharing the fabulous Crafty Secrets products with you.  I hope you get as much enjoyment out of this experience as I do!  My first ‘official’ post will be the first Monday of August, for the monthly linky party.  Now, you might be thinking, “The first Monday…but isn’t that Free Printable of the Month Day?”  Don’t worry!  I’ll be moving my Free Printable posts to the 1st of each month.  As for the months when the 1st is also the first Monday…I’ll just have to figure that one out 🙂

I wanted to make something new for my sample project, and I also wanted to make a birthday card for my Grandma, one of the sweetest ladies in all the world.  She loves pastel blues and purples (hey, me too!) and birds (we’re so obviously related).  I went searching through my Crafty Secrets stuff and found exactly what I was looking for!  Here’s the card I came up with:

CS Happy Birthday 1

I started by choosing some digital papers: Iris from the Garden collection, Blue from the Radiant collection, and embossed green diamonds.   I sized and cropped the digital images in Microsoft Word, then printed them out and cut them to size.  I decided the blue paper needed just a little something extra, so I chose a couple digital stamps.  Very lightly in the background is the music stamp from the Altered Art set; it adds such a nice, subtle interest, don’t you think?  And it goes so nicely with the “singing birds” stamp from Bird Notes.  What I absolutely love about the digital stamps is that you can re-size them, re-color them, and really make them work for your project.  In the close-up below, you can see the digital stamps a bit better:

The sentiment came from page 3 of the Birds and Blossoms Digital Printable.  I printed it, fussy cut it, added some glitter glue, and popped it onto foam squares for dimension.  Then, I added some tiny handmade flowers here and there to give it even more dimension.  I’m pretty tickled with those flowers!  Some crushed velvet ribbon, twine, and a cream button from my stash finished it off nicely.

For the inside, I digitally layered the iris and blue papers before printing (save on paper and ink, and also make the inside a little less bulky so the card is sure to close nicely!).  Then, I found the frame in the Card Sentiments digital stamps, sized it exactly, printed it, fussy cut it, et voila!  A nice area to write a note.  Several handmade flowers later, the card was complete:

CS Happy Birthday 2

There you have it!  I had so much fun making this card, and I hope you enjoyed seeing it and learning how I made it!  I have to admit, I didn’t expect to be quite so giddy about using digital stamps and paper, but there’s no denying it.  I was giddy.  First of all, they’re gorgeous images.  And then, you can make them whatever size and color you want them to be!  So many times my inspiration is thwarted because the stamp I want to use is too small, or I don’t have enough of one type of paper.  Not this time!  Mwahahaha!

Have a lovely day!
