Custom Music Notebook

Hello again!  I don’t have a card for you today… I have a covered notebook!  This notebook was a special request from my sister, Zoey, who teaches piano lessons.  She needed a notebook without too much dimension in which she could take notes on her weekly lessons.  This is what I came up with:

music notebook 1

And the inside:

music notebook 2

The back cover is also covered inside and out with the same sheet music and grey papers.

That’s it for me!  Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

Just a Note

Hey everybody!  I don’t know how the weather is wherever you are, but here it’s snowy.  Again.  March, in my mind, means Spring and the arrival of sunny days and warmer weather.  Not in the mountains!  No, the threat of snow can easily last through Easter here.  I thought I was ready for these winters, but honestly you never know until you experience it.  Here’s to hoping for warmer weather sooner rather than later!

The card I have for you today came together really quickly- my mojo must’ve been flowing!  Here it is:

just a note 1

The striped paper and music paper came from my Lost & Found Madison Avenue stack by My Mind’s Eye.  I added some texture with my sheet music embossing folder from Darice, hit it with tattered roses distress ink, and embossed it with pearlescent embossing powder.  Then I punched the corners, tore the edges, and used vintage photo distress ink to give it an aged look.  I got a little crazy with the vintage photo and added it to the edges of every piece of paper on this card…but it looks nice!  I die cut the label for the sentiment, then hand wrote “just a note,” and added a rhinestone to the eighth note for just a touch of sparkle.  The red, red ribbon added exactly the pop of color that I wanted to finish the look.  Also, I’m very proud of that bow.  Perfect after the first try and a little fluffing 🙂

Let me know what you think!  I left the inside blank (except for some vintage photo along the edges 🙂 ) because it’s a note card and there has to be room for a note 🙂  Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Vintage, a Little Music

Hello, everyone!  Today’s card is brought to you by the letter Z…for Zoey, my sister, who just had a birthday 🙂  She’s a real classy lady who plays the piano and likes the color red, not to mention she’s been my constant friend through my entire life.  So, I wanted to make something special, not your typical birthday card.  And here’s what I came up with:

For the background I used black core’dinations cardstock, made specifically for sanding, tearing, and other fun stuff.  As you can see, I sanded the edges to give it a worn, vintage look.  Then, I distressed the edges of a piece of brick red cardstock, crumpled and inked a piece of sheet music paper from my stash, and layered it on top.  The piano I made from white and black scraps, then used my Glossy Accents to make the white keys look a little more realistic.  Perhaps you can tell better in the next picture.  Finally, I grabbed a couple flower die cuts from my stash (provided by my dear mother-in-law, since I only just got my own Cuttlebug), crumpled them a little, inked them up, and layered them over 3 ribbons from my stash.  The “Z” dimensional sticker also came from my stash (remember that box of stickers I was telling you about?), as did the red and gold pearls that finish off the look. What do you think?  Here’s another pic for you:

I hope you enjoyed this slight departure from my normal style.  I know I enjoyed making it, and I sure hope Zoey enjoyed receiving it, even if it was a little late 😛
