Transferring Images to Wood using Wax Paper

Too Cute to Spook Owl Wall Hanging with Crafty Secrets

Hello, everyone!  Happy September!  It’s the first Monday of the month, so that means it’s Crafty Secrets Linky Challenge time; this month the theme is Too Cute to Spook.  I decided to go with a super simple yet super cute home decor project – take a look!

I started with the Wood Clipboard Album and the Creating with Vintage Halloween CD #4, then used wax paper to transfer the digital stamps to the wooden album cover.  Here’s the process I used:

First, pick your images and size them digitally (I used Microsoft Word)

Next, flip your image so that it will print backwards

Cut a sheet of wax paper to 8.5 x 11″ and feed it through your inkjet printer – a laser printer will not work for this technique!

Once your image is printed, place it face down on your wooden surface.

Then, smooth a straight edge over the image to make sure it all gets transferred to the wood.

Lift the wax paper, et voila!  I used a pencil to lightly trace over a couple parts that didn’t transfer quite as well – I think I didn’t quite move fast enough, but it’s hard to make projects and take pictures at the same time 😉

October 31st Card for Crafty Secrets and Mojo Monday 369

Hello, everyone!  Halloween is almost here, can you believe it?  Today’s card gets in the spirit of things and is made with Crafty Secrets items.  It’s also based on this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.  Take a look:

October 31st 1

The patterned papers are from the Crafty Secrets Halloween CD, and the neat little sign is from the Halloween Greeting Creative Scraps.  I fussy cut the sign and added some Glossy Accents, then popped it onto foam squares.  The ribbons and feathers (!!! I was soooo excited to finally use feathers on a card!) are from my stash.  This card measures 6 x 3.5″ – a little unusual, but that’s because the theme at Mojo Monday this week is “Tall & Skinny.”  Here’s the sketch:

And finally, the inside:

Those adorable little pumpkin letters are from the Halloween Treats Sticker Sheet.  Both the sticker sheet and the Creative Scraps are included in the Halloween and Fall Sale Pack or sold separately, but remember the Sale Pack comes with a ton of extra stuff (and it’s being sold at a 65% discount!!!).

That’s it!  I hope you enjoyed my card!  Have a happy and safe Halloween!

Crafty Secrets September Linky Party – Happy Halloween Treat Box and Tutorial

Happy September, everyone!  Today is the first Monday of a new month, which means it’s Linky Party time at Crafty Secrets!  This month’s theme is Fall/Halloween, so I came up with this neat little Trick or Treat box using papers and images from the Creating with Vintage Halloween CD.  I’ve got a tutorial for you on how to make the pizza-box-style treat box later in this post, but first, my project:

treat box 2

This little guy measures 4 x 4 x 1″ – perfect for a cookie, candy bar, or other treat.  I chose my papers and borders from the Halloween CD and arranged them digitally in Word, then printed it all on one sheet before assembling the box.  Here’s the inside:

After I assembled the box, I printed the bingo cards and jack-o-lantern stamp from the CD, then colored the stamp with my new colored pencils.  The “Happy Halloween” stamp came from my stash.  Arranging the elements on the top of the box to my satisfaction was probably the hardest part!
