Home Sweet Home Card

Home Sweet Home 2

Home Sweet Home

Hello, everyone and Happy Friday!  Is your life defrosting at an acceptable rate?  I’m excited about the warmer temperatures we’re supposed to get in the next couple of days before the rain rolls in.  Anyway, I have a sweet little card for you today.  Take a look:

Home Sweet Home 1

It’s all paper-layering, no stamping involved.  Most of the papers came from a delightful American Crafts pad I picked up on super sale a while back.  I just love the soft colors.  I fussy cut the house and “home sweet home” polaroid frame from their sheets and added some Glossy Accents to the windows on the house.  The blue, pink, and polka dot papers were cut down to size, and then the white layer went through my Cuttlebug in my “Juli’s Garden” embossing folder.  Some corner punching, stitching, die cutting, and ribbon tying later, the card was complete.  The inside I kept simple, with coordinating papers and a short quote across the top:

Home Sweet Home 3

And there you have it!  I hope you enjoyed today’s post, and thanks for stopping by!  Have a lovely weekend 🙂

Happy Friday! Another Flowery Card

Happy Friday, my friends!  I have another card for you that makes me suuuuuper excited and suuuuper happy 🙂  It was another one that I just wanted to hold onto and stare at for hours on end.  But, like my other favorite card, I sent this one to its intended recipient.  Check it out:

Beautiful Things 1

Can you see why I’m crazy about it?  First of all, I love the color scheme.  I’m a big fan of blues and teals.  Second of all, how about that gorgeous lacy stamp?  It’s from Tim Holtz’s Floral Tattoo set, and it’s hard for me not to use it on every single card I make these days.  And third of all (teehee), just look at that cluster of goodies!!  Leaves, flowers (2 of them handmade, I might add), butterflies…can it get much better?  I added some messy stitching and vintage photo ink around the edges for some extra special-ness.  As I was searching my stamps and stickers for an appropriate sentiment, I came across a set of stickers that I’ve had for a while and this particular one jumped out at me.  “A thing of beauty is a joy forever” seemed appropriate 🙂 And an extra bonus is that it’s a clear sticker, so it doesn’t obscure any of the lovely background paper.

Thanks for stopping by!  I get so tickled when I read your comments 🙂  Have a great weekend!

Beautiful Things 2

A Friendly Hello

Hello again!  I have a fun card for you today.  Recently I acquired some new plain but fun-colored card stock, and the other day I sat down at stared at the pretty colors until inspiration struck.  Ever have those days?  Anyway, I played around with a few colors and here’s what I came up with:

Hello Friend 1

What do you think?  I cut each different color 1/4″ smaller than the one layered beneath it so there was enough border to really show off the colors.  The hardest part was lining up all the squares and getting the partial squares juuust right.  The fun part was realizing that I could finally use some of the sequins just sitting in my stash!  The sentiment is stamped from 2 different sets (hence the slight differences that may only annoy me because I’m a perfectionist) and embossed with clear powder.  This card measures 5×6.5″ and is already filled with a long note and on its way to someone special 🙂 I hope she likes it!

A Non-traditional Valentine

Hey everyone!  I finally made Joel’s valentine today.  About time, right?  He’s really difficult to make cards for; he cares more about what’s written inside the card than what it looks like on the outside.  I guess that’s fair 😉  But it does make it difficult for me to make cards for him!  Anyway, I sat down to create his valentine and started to think about song lyrics that mean something to us.  I came up with a lyric and started going through all of my stamps, stickers, paper, etc to find each of the words in the lyric, and that’s how I decided on the color scheme.  I could have made it fit into a more traditional color scheme, but I really liked one of the stickers I found and figured what the heck?  Paper Crafts Connection recently had a post about “Fashion Forward Valentines,” so the idea was already in the back of my mind.

Anyway, here’s the card I came up with:

Joel's Valentine

The line is from “You and Me” by Dave Matthews, a song we considered for our first dance at our wedding.  The song has a funky meter, so we ultimately decided on something else.  I’m saving that one for our first anniversary 🙂  Sappy, I know 🙂

So, yes, the whole color scheme came about because of the “together” sticker.  What goes well with orange? I thought.  Blue, of course!  I stamped the “you & me” with VersaMark and embossed it with white embossing powder.  The “can do” I stamped in orange and clear embossed.  “Anything” I spelled out using bubble stickers from my stash, and “baby” was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder.  I knew I wanted a little extra something, so I added the brads in the corners and the twine across the middle.  The inside I left completely blank so I had plenty of room to write a sappy note 🙂 Sorry, you don’t get to read it 😛

Here are a couple close-ups for you:
