Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop

Hey Chickie card for the Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop

Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop

Hello again, and happy Monday!  Today I’m taking part in the Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop along with the rest of the crazy creative designers on the Crafty Secrets Team.  Each design team member has used the new Farm Chicks Digital Art Stamps, or the new Digital Chicken Farm Print paper…or both to create a fabulous chicken themed project to inspire and delight you!   If you are coming here from Gloria’s blog, then you are right on track. If not, you can go back to the Crafty Secrets Blog and follow the links.

Here’s the card I came up with:

Hey Chickie card for the Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop!

I used 5 stamps from the Farm Chicks digital stamp set and red tweed paper from the Kitchen Memories kit.  I sized everything in Word (as usual!), printed, then set to work coloring all those chickens with my colored pencils.  Once everything was colored, I played around with some layers, stitched around the edges, and glued it all together!  The last little touch was a bit of brown jute string to tie the “Hey Chickie” tag onto the burlap bow.

Here’s the inside:

As you can see, I repeated the large stamp, checkered border, and stitched edges to keep things consistent.  What do you think?

Every great blog hop needs a prize, and one lucky winner will receive their very own set of the Farm Chicks Digital Art Stamps and the digital Chicken Farm Paper, too. To win, simply visit every blog listed below and leave a nice comment.  Then, finish up this hop on the Crafty Secrets BLOG and let us know that you’ve visited and commented on all the designers’ blogs.  The winner will be randomly chosen from one of the blog comments on one of the designer’s blogs.  How fun is that?

From here, you should strut on over to visit Michele’s fabulous blog.  She has a wonderful project to share with you, and is the next link on the hop!  Have a lovely day and a wonderful time at the farm!

A Little Birdie Notecard

Hello, again!  Today I have for you another card made with papers from the delicious new pad I picked up on my impromptu shopping spree at Michaels a couple weeks ago.  It had to sit untouched on the shelf for several days before I could make enough time to do anything other than admire the pretty colors, poor thing.  But I put it to good use eventually  🙂  I also bought several packs of blank cards in white, cream, and kraft, and I was so excited to create my first card with a kraft base!  Take a look:

Don’t you just adore that little bird?  He’s so chubby and whimsical, I can hardly stand it!  This card actually started as a much cleaner, simpler design, but I quickly discovered that the floral patterned paper in the background was horribly unrelenting and needed some toning-down.  So, I added a doily!  The doily, the stitching, the bouquet, and the tiny white flowers on the yellow paper all come together and make me think of a country cottage.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a beautiful day 🙂

A Country Fresh Card

Hey, everybody!  Today is a special occasion!  This is my 50th blog post, can you believe it?  I don’t know where the time has gone.  In honor of this special day, I’m having a GIVEAWAY!  Woohoo!  For the random lucky winner, I will make 4 cards for the occasion of their choice (birthday, thank you, congrats, etc- feel free to mix and match!).  All you have to do is subscribe to my blog (find the section in the sidebar, enter your email address, and click the “Follow” button) and leave a comment!  The more comments you leave, the more chances you’ll have to win.  Leave your comments starting now through Tuesday, March 19th at 5PM EST and I will announce the winner on my blog on Wednesday, March 20th. I can’t wait to read all your comments and make special cards for one of you!

And now, the card.  I made this card for the Paper Crafts Connection Country Fresh Gallery Challenge!  Head on over there to enter your own Country Fresh cards, but for now, here’s what I came up with:

Country Thank You 2

The paper all came from my scrap basket, and the flowers and label were from a DCWV sheet I bought a while back.  The “thank you” is a rub-on I found in my stash.  The kraft paper and twine give the card a down-to-earth quality that offsets the fancy scrollwork on the label and the lace…and it all comes together and says to me “country.”  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by, and don’t forget to subscribe and leave a comment for your chance to win 4 custom made cards!
