Two Happy Birthday Cards for a Happy Monday

Hello, everyone!  It’s a drizzly, grey Monday here in my neck of the woods, but it’s off to a productive start!  The kitchen is clean, coffee is made, emails are answered, and now I’m writing a blog post to share a couple of cards with you.  Hopefully these Happy Birthday cards will help you have a Happy Monday!

This first card was fun and simple to make.  Picking out the papers was probably the hardest part!  I cut the blue background paper down to size, ran the white paper through my Cuttlebug in my “Swiss Dots” embossing folder, and layered them together with a silver brad in each corner.  Then, I fashioned the cake.  The brown layer is my favorite – I used one of my punches to create a decorative edge.  I didn’t get a great picture of the dimension, but each layer of cake has a rounded appearance; I did this by raising the center of each piece with a foam square, and then gluing the edges down.  Subtle and fun!  I stamped and embossed the sentiment, added a couple brads and some bakers twine, and adhered it with foam squares.  Easy peezy!  You might even say it was a piece of cake!  Buh-dum-chhhh!

This second card was even easier to create.  First, I die cut the card base.  After running it through the machine, I left the die in place and sponged ink onto the card, creating a clean white border.  Then, I die cut more of the same shape in burlap, blue, and white.  I stamped and embossed the sentiment, added brads, and layered everything together.  Again, easy peezy.

Well, that’s it for today!  I hope these cards helped brighten up your Monday a bit 🙂  Have a lovely day!

Another Graduation Inspiration Card Duo

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope y’all had a nice weekend.  Mine was full of celebration, good food, fun times, and a little relaxation.  Now back to the daily grind 😉  Still in the spirit of graduation, I have a couple more cards of that nature for you.  Take a look:

Another simple design.  The fun part was stamping the graduation caps over and over again to create my own custom background paper.  I added a touch of gold glitter glue to the tassels of each cap for a little more pizzazz 🙂

That’s all I’ve got for you today!  I hope you enjoyed it.  Have a lovely day!

It’s Graduation Time!

It’s Graduation Time: Hats off, Grad!

Hello again and happy Friday!  It’s an exciting time of year for so many students – graduation time!  Today is definitely exciting in this household; it’s the day when my wonderful husband graduates from his Master’s program!  He’s worked so hard these last two years, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.  In a couple months we’ll be off to a new place where he’ll start a new job.  What an adventure!

I have a matching duo of cards for you today, I hope you enjoy them:

I really enjoyed making these cards because they’re a slight departure from my norm.  I used my Spellbinders Labels 9 die to make a shaped card instead of the normal rectangular design.  They’re smaller than normal cards, measuring about 3 x 4.5″, but I think they’re the perfect size to accompany a gift.  The inside is completely blank for note-writing.

That’s it for today!  I’ll be back next week with a little more graduation inspiration for you.  Have a lovely weekend!
