Mojo Monday 289- Baby Shower Invitations

Hey everyone!  Today I’m posting my interpretation of this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.  Here’s the sketch, for your viewing and crafting pleasure:

Pretty sweet, if you ask me.  Kinda different, which I find both nice and challenging.  Here’s what I came up with:

Baby shower trio

Sorry about the poor picture quality, I still have a hard time taking good pictures after the sun goes down.  Natural lighting is by far the best for pictures!

Anyway, I these cards measure 4 x 5.5″ and fold along the top edge.  On the inside is the typical “Who What When Where RSVP” information.  As you can see, I made three different color combinations: 1 for a boy, 1 for a girl, and 1 for the baby whose gender is as yet unknown!  Here’s a close-up to try to show off some details:

I made the polka dot paper by carving my own circle stamp from a wine cork.  The other patterned paper was made by repeatedly stamping a cute little rattle.  Both the baby carriage and the sentiment are embossed with clear powder, and the sentiment is popped up on a foam square.

Little Angels

Happy Friday, everyone!  I want to start by saying thank you for all the support of yesterday’s post!  I was just thrilled to my little toes by your response.  Thanks to everyone who shared it on Facebook and pinned it on Pinterest- I really appreciate your help spreading the word 🙂

Now, on to something new.  Check it out:

Little Angel 1

Isn’t the little carriage adorable?  With the dry embossed top and little lace shade…sweetness, if I do say so myself!  And the flowers, pink buttons, and green rhinestones make me happy.  Here’s the inside:

Little Angel 2

I created the background using Tim Holtz’ wrinkle-free distress technique (my new addiction) with mowed lawn and picked raspberry.  I’m a fan of pink and green for baby girl cards.  What do you think?

Mojo Monday 277: Double Feature

Hey guys GUESS WHAT!  It’s only Tuesday and I’ve already finished my Mojo Monday cards!  And YES you read that correctly, I said cardS with an “s!”  I guess this week’s sketch really inspired me because I started pulling supplies out for one card and immediately had an idea for another card.  I actually have an idea for yet another card using this same layout…I’ll have to keep the sketch handy as one of my go-to-when-I-get-stuck things 🙂

First, the sketch:

And now the TWO (not one, but TWO!!!) cards I came up with!

One’s kinda classy and the other is super adorable, don’t you think?  As you can see, I took a little creative license with the sketch, but that’s really what it’s all about.  I like to use the sketch to get my creative juices flowing and then see where it takes me!  Sometimes my perfectionist self gets caught up in following the sketch precisely, and that’s when I run into problems.  Usually in the form of a wall.  Ok, so it’s a mental wall, but you get the point!  Life can’t always be about perfection.  Very often you’re better off by going with the flow.
