April Linky Party – Anything Goes with Ribbon

Happy April, friends! Today is the first Monday of a new month, which means it’s Crafty Secrets Linky Party time! This month we’ve teamed up with Really Reasonable Ribbon for a cross-promotional challenged called “Anything Goes with Ribbon.” RRR graciously provided us with the gorgeous April Ribbon Club Assortment to use in our projects:

Aren’t they beautiful? I absolutely love the aqua and coral combo. I went searching through my Crafty Secrets goodies for some inspiration, and found it on the Creating with Vintage Typography CD #3! Have a look at the Mother’s Day card I came up with:

The background papers are actually from the brand new Birds and Blooms set, created specially by our own DT Member Sheila Rumney, and they were exactly what I was looking for. I sized and cropped them digitally, printed them out, and cut them down to size. Then, I stamped a little background for more interest before arranging the rest of the elements. I had the hardest time deciding which ribbons to go with, but eventually I chose the Light Coral Satin with Grosgrain Edge, Theresa Crochet Lace, and the Delicate Stitched Satin Aqua. All the ribbons are truly beautiful and delightful to work with. The lone little flower on the front of the card is a Wild Orchid Craft Sweetheart Blossom and also comes from RRR. Here’s a mini tutorial on how I printed and assembled the focal image on the front of the card:

Very simple, really. Size your image in Word, then copy and paste that image so you have 2 exactly the same size. Crop the excess out of one copy and add your text with a textbox. Print, fussy cut, pop up on foam squares, and match the edges to layer. It’s a super easy way to add beautiful dimension to the front of a card or project. Now, the inside of the card!

As you can see, I repeated the same papers and the frame from the Typography CD. I also included bits of the Roses with Scalloped Edge Grosgrain Aqua and 3/8″ Shell Print on Coral Rose Satin ribbons up at the top. What do you think?
Now it’s your turn! To play along, simply create any project that features Crafty Secrets products and add ribbon or trim to your project. You do not have to use Really Reasonable Ribbon to play along, any ribbon or trim will do. To thank you for playing along, there is a pretty digital paper and a fun seasonal image that you can download from the Crafty Secrets Blog. This month’s lucky winner will receive a $25 gift certificate for any Crafty Secrets digital products! Just link up your project to the CS Blog by midnight, PST on Sunday, April 19th, then check back on the 22nd to see if you’ve won!
