Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #16 Altered Notebook
Hello everyone! I’m pretty excited about today’s post for a few reasons : 1) It’s another guest designer project for the Craft Hoarders Anonymous blog, 2) I used lots of pretty flowers, 3) it really stretched my creativity because it’s not my typical greeting card or wedding stationery. Woohoo! Here’s this week’s challenge:
Challenge #16 Who Loves School and Office Supplies?
Most paper crafters also love school and office supplies. We love crayons, markers, shaped paperclips, notepads, folders, and more! If you hoard school and office products, get them out! Use them up! Use at least one item that is really a school or office supply on your project.
One talented participant will receive this prize donated by Lindy’s Stamp Gang, a $30 Gift Certificate to the Lindy’s Stamp Gang store!
I love school and office supplies. Office supply stores and office supply aisles in regular stores are some of my favorite places, right up there with craft stores. For whatever reason, pens and paperclips and notebooks get me excited! Guess I’m in the right profession then, huh? Anyway, I’ve had 7 blank composition notebooks sitting on my bookshelf for months…ok…it might actually be approaching the years level now…and I rarely touch them because they take more thought, time, and materials than my typical cards (see Reason #3 at the beginning of this post). Well, I decided to put one to good use for this challenge, and boy am I pleased with the result! This month’s sponsors were Crafty Secrets and Heartfelt Creations, so I used Crafty Secrets paper, images, and digital stamps, and included lots of flowers (Heartfelt Creations has incredible flower stamps and coordinating dies, but since I don’t own any – yet – I figured I’d just embrace the spirit by using my own flowers). Take a look:
I began by printing the Big Leaves and Roses & Music papers from the Crafty Secrets digital Garden Papers set. Then, I layered the “Journal” digital stamp onto one of the frames from the Garden Printables, and printed that and some flowers from the Flower Garden Digital Art Stamps set. I colored, fussy cut, and set about covering the notebook. I added some gold embossing powder to the Roses & Music paper, tore the edges, and used a little Vintage Photo distress ink to add some age.
I created the daisy/sunflower using my Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die, and the rest of the flowers and gold leaves are from my little stash of Prima flowers. You might remember from several earlier posts that I hoard these like precious jewels. They’re beautiful and I love them and I never want to run out.
Here’s the inside of the front cover:
I have to admit, I ran out of steam a little bit on the inside. A few digital stamps and the same lace and ribbon, and I called it a day.
Now it’s your turn! What kind of school and office supplies do you hoard? Get them out and create something to share with us at Craft Hoarders Anonymous! Visit the blog for challenge rules, design team inspiration, and the linky tool to share your project. This challenge closes at Midnight PST on Sunday, September 28th, so hop to it!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a lovely day 🙂
