Butterflies & Roses – A Vintage Birthday Card

Happy Friday, everybody!  Today I’m sharing a birthday card that I made using the Creating with Vintage Illustrations CD #2 from Crafty Secrets.  Take a look:

CD #2 is full of beautiful images like the one on this card – it practically made itself.  I sized the image in Word and added one of the frames from the CD for a little more interest around the corners, then printed the whole thing.  Then, I cropped the image down to just the butterfly at the bottom, printed that, and fussy cut the butterfly.  I added Stickles and Glossy Accents to the butterfly and let it dry, and the wings curled up perfectly all by themselves.

The tag I made with a scrap of cream cardstock and a stamp from my stash; I used my Exacto knife to cut around the flowers and tucked the tag right in!

On the inside, I used the same frame and another floral image from the CD:

Easy-peasy!

That’s it for me, I’ve got to get cracking on some work so I can relax this weekend.  Don’t forget, you still have 3 days to play along with this month’s Linky Party!  Just for entering you get the new Retro Kitchen Digital Kit.

Have a lovely day!

You Still Have the Spark Masculine Birthday Card

Hello, everyone!  I’m just dropping in quickly to share this week’s Crafty Secrets card with you.  This one’s a masculine birthday card made with stamps from the Car Classics digital set, and red checkered paper from the Vintage Patterns CD.  Take a look:

You Still Have the Spark 1

I started by sizing the checkered paper digitally, layering the wordblock stamp onto it, and printing.  Then, I sized my sentiments (inner and outer), checkered flags, and car the way I wanted and printed all of those out as well.  I tore the edges of my background paper and die cut the sentiments, then sponged all the edges with Vintage Photo distress ink.  Then I spent a good while coloring the car, adding Glossy Accents to the windshield and lights, and finally fussy cutting it.  I also spritzed it with some glimmer mist, but kind of wish I hadn’t because it made the car look dirty…whoops…but I’d spent too long coloring and didn’t want to do it again 😛  Here’s a look at the inside:

And there you have it!  It can be so easy to make masculine cards when one has the right supplies, it’s kind of amazing.

Don’t forget, if you’re looking for incredible deals, Crafty Secrets has 8 Sale Packs (2 of them are BRAND NEW!) full of tons of vintage-y goodness for card making and scrapbooking and anything else you can think of.  Now’s the perfect time to buy the Halloween and Autumn Sale Pack, or get a headstart on Christmas cards with the Christmas Sale Pack!  There’s also a new Cooking Sale Pack that has all sorts of great stuff for making Thanksgiving cards, layouts, or decorations.

That’s it for me! Have a lovely day!

You Grow Sweeter Every Year Birthday Card with Crafty Secrets

HAPPY FRIDAY, EVERYBODY!  It’s gonna be a good weekend, I can feel it.  And to get it started on the right foot, I’m sharing a fun birthday card with you!  Take a look:

Sweet Birthday Card 1

Get it?!  She’s baking sweet treats and she gets sweeter every year – bah-dum chhh!  I was browsing through my Crafty Secrets collection looking for inspiration when I came across the sentiment in the Garden Style Digital Art Stamps.  I thought it was adorable, but wanted to emphasize the “sweet” rather than the “growing” part of the sentiment, so I left the Garden stamps and started the search for baked goods.  I found just what I was looking for in my “Homemade” Images and Journal Notes booklet.

I cut out the image and used my Vintage Photo distress ink to make it look…well…vintage 😛  Then, I covered it in VersaMark and clear embossing powder and heated it through.  I embossed it once more, let it cool, then crumpled it a little to create small folds and cracks in the embossing.  I rubbed more Vintage Photo over the image (which was indeed starting to look like a vintage photo) to make the cracks stand out a little better, wiped off the excess, et voila!  From a plain paper image to a vintage photo!  How cool!

Luckily, there was another image in the Homemade Images booklet to fit the theme.  I gave it the same treatment and put it on the inside:

The “Happy Birthday” wasn’t a stamp in the Garden Style set – BUT – the digital set comes with the font for you to download!  I love that I can type any message I’d like and it matches the font on the outside.  Hooray for consistency!  It makes my perfectionist self very happy.

That’s it for me today!  I hope you enjoyed today’s card, and I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

Sew Wonderful Birthday Card for Crafty Secrets

You’re Sew Wonderful Crafty Secrets Birthday Card

Hello, everyone!  I hope you’re doing well, refreshed after the weekend and looking forward to a long weekend ahead.  Today I have another birthday card to share with you, this one made with papers from the Crafty Secrets Sew Decorative CD, and stamps from the Sew Fashionista Digital Art Stamp set.  Take a look:

I started by choosing the green lace patterned paper, the sentiment, and the sentiment frame from the CD.  Then, I sized them all digitally and added the dress form stamp from the Sew Fashionista digital set.  Layer by layer, with the dress form in the same place, I printed each element so that when I layered them on my card, all the little lines on the dress form would line up.  Sounds complicated, but it wasn’t really.  I’m just not that great at explaining my process!

Before gluing everything down, I added a flourish stamp, corner stamps, gold brads, some faux stitching, and distressed edges.  Then I just layered everything, popping the sentiment up on foam squares, and added a nice bow and flowers.  Here’s the inside:

The sentiment and flowers are from the CD, and the dress form is from the stamp set.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed today’s post.  Have a lovely day!
