Birthday Card for a World Traveler

Birthday card for a world traveler by Paper Melody's

Hello everyone!  I have a very special birthday card to share with you today — this one was for my “little” brother, who reached the quarter century mark a few days ago, and who happens to have the travel bug.  I found the perfect papers and things for his card in the Crafty Secrets Creating with Vintage Typography CD, and now I’ll share it with you!  Have a look:

The bellboy, envelope, stamp paper, and ticket tucked into the envelope are all from the CD, as is the map paper I used to make a large envelope for the whole card.  I added the text to the telegraph using the typewriter font available on the CD – super easy to add with a textbox in Word.  The postcard and trunk tucked into the envelope are from the Travel Creative Scraps.  Here’s the inside of the card:

I repeated the layout, but made the envelope look like a postcard this time.  The sentiment came from the CD, and I wrote a note in the space where the “address” would go.

Here you can see each piece of the set:

That’s it for today!  Thanks for stopping by, and have a lovely day!

That’s a stamp that I printed and colored, then topped with clear embossing powder.  I put it on a frame, popped it onto foam squares, and layered it onto the Green Embossed paper from Crafty Secrets.  Some corrugated paper, eyelets, and a little ribbon later, it was done!  Here’s the inside:

You’re Sew Special Vintage Birthday Card

Hello everybody!  Just popping in quickly to share a birthday card with you.  Last weekend was my Grandma’s birthday, so I wanted to make a special card to celebrate the occasion.  She’s the one who taught me how to sew quilts, so I thought a sewing card would be appropriate!  I pulled out my Crafty Secrets Sew Decorative CD #7 and got to work.  Here’s what I came up with:

I just love those ladies, don’t you?  Everything was sized in Microsoft Word, printed, cut, distressed, and stitched before being applied to the card face.  Here’s the inside:

A Set of Floral Birthday Cards

Hello again!  I have FOUR cards to share with you today! Exciting, right?  Ok, confession, they’re very simple cards that are all very similar… because they all go together in a SET!  How about that?  Check it out:

The images are from the Creating with Vintage Illustrations CD #2 by Crafty Secrets. I just opened them in Microsoft Word, sized them appropriately, and added a text box with “Happy Birthday.”  Then I printed, fussy cut, and added glossy accents and glitter.  Here are the other 2:

I stamped and embossed the backgrounds, layered them onto coordinating card stock, then wrapped each with ribbon.  The sentiment images are popped up on foam squares.  I won’t show you the inside because I just repeated the layered paper and left it blank.

That’s it for me!  What do you think?

Have a lovely day!

Birthday Card using Crafty Secrets Vintage Patterns

Happy Monday, friends!  We got a nice taste of Spring last week…and then it got cold again!  What’s up with that?  I’ve been holding a silent protest in my studio by making loads of paper flowers and flowery cards.  Here’s one of those cards, made with images from the Creating with Vintage Patterns CD #1 by Crafty Secrets.

The background paper started as a black png image, so I opened it in Photoshop and changed it to blue and white.  Then, I sized the frame, flowers, and sentiment in Word, printed everything, and started fussy cutting!  The lacy background came from a punch in my stash.  Some ribbon, glitter glue, and a few rhinestones finished the front off nicely.

On the inside, I used the same frame and background paper, plus a coordinating image from the CD.  Easy!
