June Linky Party – Baseball Father’s Day Card with Crafty Secrets

HAPPY JUNE, EVERYONE! Where, oh WHERE did May go??  Last month just flew by and it feels like we’re well into summer now, doesn’t it?  In my house, summer means baseball season, so I just had to incorporate the sport into this month’s Linky Party project!  This month’s theme is “Let’s Hear it for the Boys!” and we were charged with creating a masculine piece any guy would enjoy.  I chose baseball and created a Father’s Day card!  Take a look:

I found the letters, baseball card, and bingo card on the Creating with Vintage Typography CD #3, and the green background paper came from the Garden Papers digital collection.  I began by opening each image and copying and pasting it into Microsoft Word.  Then, I sized everything digitally before hitting print.  Here’s a tip:  Adjust the size of your background paper first, and then sort of arrange all the other elements digitally.  You can move everything around and re-size your images until you get them in the exact size and layout you want, then print everything and start cutting!  Sometimes if I just can’t decide on a size I’ll print the same image in multiple sizes, but I find it’s more helpful to play with things digitally before printing and cutting.  Save paper and ink, you know!

I distressed the edges of all the papers then inked them up with my Vintage Photo distress ink.  Then, I layered onto black or red cardstock cut 3/16″ larger than each element.  It seems rather specific, but it’s my preferred interval – 1/8″ is too small and 1/4″ is too wide.  What can I say, I’m a perfectionist!

The cork strip came from my stash and provided the perfect texture to pull the whole card together.  A touch of Glossy Accents on the letters and the little round numbers added some texture and the smallest hint of shine.  I added dimension by popping up “DAD” on foam squares – nothing too crazy, so I can still get this baby in the mail without worrying about it being destroyed 🙂

You’re Sew Special Vintage Birthday Card

Hello everybody!  Just popping in quickly to share a birthday card with you.  Last weekend was my Grandma’s birthday, so I wanted to make a special card to celebrate the occasion.  She’s the one who taught me how to sew quilts, so I thought a sewing card would be appropriate!  I pulled out my Crafty Secrets Sew Decorative CD #7 and got to work.  Here’s what I came up with:

I just love those ladies, don’t you?  Everything was sized in Microsoft Word, printed, cut, distressed, and stitched before being applied to the card face.  Here’s the inside:

A Couple of Cuties – May Linky Party with Vintage Photo Creative Scraps

A Couple of Cuties – May Linky Party with Vintage Photo Creative Scraps

Hello, everyone and Happy May!  It’s the first Monday of this gorgeous new month, so you know what that means – Crafty Secrets Linky Party time!  This month’s challenge is “Anything Goes,” and I decided to play with the new Digital Vintage Photo Creative Scraps.  Here’s a look at the card I made:

They sure are a couple of cuties!  They came from the Vintage Photo scraps, as did the frame and sentiment.  I sized everything in Word and printed it out.  A little later in this post I’ve got a quick tutorial on how I made the little frame for the picture, so stick around!  The tag and other little goodies came from the Travel Creative Scraps.  I added some crumpled kraft paper behind the picture, stitched around the edges, and glued it all to a brown card base.  Here’s the inside:

I chose “Congratulations” to go on the inside because I thought this would make an adorable card for a newly married couple.  It could also work as an engagement card, or any other milestone for that matter!  Here’s a quick look at how I made the frame on the front:

Hey Chickie card for the Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop

Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop

Hello again, and happy Monday!  Today I’m taking part in the Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop along with the rest of the crazy creative designers on the Crafty Secrets Team.  Each design team member has used the new Farm Chicks Digital Art Stamps, or the new Digital Chicken Farm Print paper…or both to create a fabulous chicken themed project to inspire and delight you!   If you are coming here from Gloria’s blog, then you are right on track. If not, you can go back to the Crafty Secrets Blog and follow the links.

Here’s the card I came up with:

Hey Chickie card for the Crafty Secrets Farm Chicks Blog Hop!

I used 5 stamps from the Farm Chicks digital stamp set and red tweed paper from the Kitchen Memories kit.  I sized everything in Word (as usual!), printed, then set to work coloring all those chickens with my colored pencils.  Once everything was colored, I played around with some layers, stitched around the edges, and glued it all together!  The last little touch was a bit of brown jute string to tie the “Hey Chickie” tag onto the burlap bow.

Here’s the inside:

As you can see, I repeated the large stamp, checkered border, and stitched edges to keep things consistent.  What do you think?

Every great blog hop needs a prize, and one lucky winner will receive their very own set of the Farm Chicks Digital Art Stamps and the digital Chicken Farm Paper, too. To win, simply visit every blog listed below and leave a nice comment.  Then, finish up this hop on the Crafty Secrets BLOG and let us know that you’ve visited and commented on all the designers’ blogs.  The winner will be randomly chosen from one of the blog comments on one of the designer’s blogs.  How fun is that?

From here, you should strut on over to visit Michele’s fabulous blog.  She has a wonderful project to share with you, and is the next link on the hop!  Have a lovely day and a wonderful time at the farm!

Corset Card for a Bachelorette Party

Bachelorette Party Corset Card using Crafty Secrets Digital Stamps and Papers

Corset Card for a Bachelorette Party

Happy Monday, everyone!  I have a super fun card to share with you today.  That is, I had a super fun time making it for a friend’s bachelorette party, and I hope you enjoy it too 🙂

Bachelorette Party Corset Card using Crafty Secrets Digital Stamps and Papers

I started by choosing one of the corset stamps from the Crafty Secrets Sew Fashionista digital stamp set, then sizing it nice and big in Microsoft Word.  I made sure my page was in landscape orientation and arranged the stamp toward the right side of the page.  Then, I made a background using digital paper from the Radiant collection and printed the whole thing.  Next, I folded the paper so the left side of the corset formed the hinge of the card, and fussy cut to get a corset-card!  I printed the corset a couple more times (in the same size), and cut along the seams so I could layer them over ribbon.  Then I glued it all together, wrote a saucy note on the inside, and sent it on its merry way!  What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a lovely day 🙂
