A Red and Purple Birthday Card, Plus Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #3 Sneak Peek!

Happy Monday, everyone!  I’ve got a couple goodies for you today, so I’ll get right down to it.  First, it’s March!  This means Happy Spring and all that, but it also means that I’ll be a guest designer over on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog for the next 2 challenges.  Today is the first day of Challenge #3: Vintage or Retro, and here are the details:

Graphic 45 is our sponsor this month, so let’s see what you can make in a vintage or retro style. Do you hoard lace or vintage hat pins? Do you snap up all the postcards at yard sales? Do you love mid-century modern? Do you long for avocado appliances and orange shag carpets? Show your vintage or retro spin on a paper crafting project.

Below is a picture of the incredible prize pack donated by Graphic 45.  Be sure to enter your project before Midnight on Sunday, March 16th for a chance to win!

Now, here’s a sneak peek of the project I came up with for this challenge.  It’ll be posted on the Craft Hoarders Anonymous blog next Monday:

CHACB Memories card 4

Alright, on with the blog!  Today I’m sharing a birthday card I made for a custom order.  The only request was to use reds and purples, and this is what I came up with:

red and purple birthday 1

I started by running a piece of red cardstock through my Cuttlebug using my Anna Griffin “Rosa” embossing folder.  Then, I punched decorative corners from the purple cardstock and layered it under a piece of red designer paper I had in my stash.  Next, I had fun with my Spellbinders “Fancy Tags Two” die and my Heartfelt Creations “Raindrops on Roses” die.  I stamped the sentiment in purple using the “Sing for Joy” set from Crafty Secrets, glued it to the fancy tag, and popped it up on foam squares.  I added ribbon, red rhinestones, and some glitter glue for extra bling.

Here’s the inside:

As you can see, I used the same shapes and papers on the inside, but this time I used the border embossing folder from the “Rosa” set.

That’s it for today, folks!  I hope you enjoyed today’s post – don’t forget to enter your vintage or retro creation in the Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge!

Have a lovely day 🙂

Excited to see the reveal of your CHACB project! Woot! Purple and red is a tough color combination, but you really pulled it off! Love all the details, the way you used dies, embossing, etc. It has a real Mardi Gras feel…which is totally appropriate for the season!
