Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #2 and Giveaway Winner!

Happy Friday, everybody!  Friday is pretty great on its own, but this Friday is even better because somebody is gonna win fun stuff!  Thanks so much to everyone who shared and commented – I loved reading all your favorites.  And now, the randomly selected winner is…

Lori!

Congratulations!  Your package of goodies will be on its way soon!

And now, on to today’s project!  This project is for the 2nd challenge over at Craft Hoarders Anonymous.  It’s called “Let’s See That Hoard” and the details are below:

This is a Color Challenge with a twist. Pick the thing or things that you seem to hoard the most, and using the color scheme shown below, create a project that showcases your hoarded item or items. Do you hoard buttons, beads, ribbon, papers, stickers? Show your hoard, but only the items that match the color scheme! (Please note, you do not have to use all the colors in the photo, nor match the colors exactly. Just use the photo and the colors to inspire you to dig through your hoard.)

I got pretty excited when I saw the color palette – I LOVE blue and I have a whole stack of paper that matches almost perfectly!  I set about pulling things out of my hoard and brainstorming what my project would be…and I realized that I have yet to get a calendar for this year.  I know, tomorrow is the first day of March.  Tsk.  Anyway, I decided to make a decorative calendar!  This is what I eventually came up with:

seek joy 1

It’s a 12 x 12 piece of chipboard covered in various blue papers, all of which (chipboard included) I’ve had in my stash for a good while.  The blue swiss dot paper was a little difficult to use – I love it so much and it was my very last sheet!

I printed the calendar onto white cardstock and attached it using photo corners, so when April rolls around I can replace the month without creating an entirely new layout.  I’m particularly excited about this feature 🙂  Anyway, back to the details!  Whenever I get my hands on pre-made flowers, I tend to hoard them like the world is coming to an end, so I figured it would be healthy to include a few here.  The large blue flower came in a Prima Marketing kit, something I’ve been hoarding for several months now, as did the gold leaves.  The little cream flowers were an impulse buy from the $1 bin on one of my many dangerous trips to the friendly neighborhood Michaels store, and have been sitting with their friends for…a long time.  Moving along.  The blue vintage postcard is a sticker that was given to me by my Big my freshman or sophomore year in college.  Yes, I’m just now using it.  I backed it with some cream cardstock and attached it using these adorable heart-shaped paperclips.  The paperclips were on clearance at JoAnn’s a couple years ago, and I bought the last 3 little containers.  I have so many, and I’ve never used them!  Next come the wooden buttons.  I have so many buttons, but the little wooden ones are my very favorites and I use them sparingly.  I also have lots and lots of stickers and I really don’t use stickers often…the “seek joy” is actually made up of individual rub-on letters that I’ve had since 2007.  They’re so beautiful and rarely touched.  I was quite pleased that I got to use them again.

And I guess that’s it!  Thanks for stopping by!  There are just a couple more days left to play along with this challenge and then on to the March challenges!  I’ll be a guest designer for both challenges in March, so keep an eye out 🙂

Have a lovely weekend – my new calendar is a reminder to “seek joy” every day, so that’s what I’ll be doing this weekend 🙂  Till next time!
