Hello, everyone! Today I thought I’d do something a little different. Instead of posting a card or other project, I thought I’d give you a peek into my studio! It’s nothing fancy, but it’s where I spend most of my time, complete all my projects, and come up with my designs. Welcome to the Paper Melody’s Studio!
There it is, folks! Nestled into the corner of my kitchen – you can see a piece of the refrigerator there on the right – where the kitchen table used to be. It’s really quite a large kitchen, with lots of wasted space when it’s only being used as a kitchen. We moved the table out to our living area and moved my craft stuff in! I love that I can have my sewing machine, Cuttlebug, and giant guillotine-style paper cutter out all at the same time. Last year there was a lot of shuffling things around, putting things away immediately after use, and lugging them out again when I realized I hadn’t quite finished yet. There’s still some rearranging when I use one tool or another, but it’s much easier than cleaning my entire space before die cutting one little shape.
In general, there are papers and ribbon, paper towels dotted with glue and covered in 12 colors of ink, and neat little stacks of half-finished wedding programs covering my desks. It’s in pretty good shape in this picture 🙂
And now a couple other things that make me happy:
This magnet is on our refrigerator, immediately to my right as I sit at my computer. It’s usually how this non-morning person feels when I enter the room for the first time having just gotten out of bed. Coffee almost always ensues and I feel less blurgh-ish.
My bamboo 🙂 It was here in the apartment to welcome us back from summer, and I was thrilled to see it! I love living things but have a bit of a brown thumb (as opposed to green…get it?), so an easy-to-care-for bamboo plant is just the ticket. Joel graciously and immediately accepted that it was now my bamboo, and we bought him a small cactus to keep in his office 🙂
Oh, buttons! As I mentioned before, there are almost always several small piles of things on my desk that have homes elsewhere, I just haven’t put them away yet. These buttons I had picked for a specific project that never got made, and they sat on my desk cheerily for several days. I love buttons, don’t you? They’re so small and happy and I love the way they feel in my hands. Maybe I should leave a pile of buttons out ALL the time!
Well, that’s it for today! Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed the little peek into my world. Happy crafting!
