Just Be You Clean and Simple Card

Hey everyone!  I know what you’re thinking- new posts two days in a row!?  How could we be so lucky?!  Well friends, orders have slowed down a bit (a good and bad thing!), so I’ve gotten a chance to make some fun stuff.  Woot!  I’ve had a few ideas floating around in my head just waiting for a moment when I wasn’t making hundreds of wedding programs, and today’s card is one of those ideas.  Check it out:

Just Be You 1

It’s a very clean and simple design, a bit of a departure from my normal style.  No paper layering or ribbon and lots and lots of white space.  I used 3 stamps from my new Honey “Happiness” Stamps from My Mind’s Eye (The Sweetest Thing by Jen Allyson collection).  I stamped the honeycomb pattern twice in yellow and embossed with clear powder.  The sentiment is simply stamped in black and fussy cut.  Mr. Bee was stamped in grey on yellow cardstock, embossed with clear powder, fussy cut, and then tapped with black ink.  I wiped the excess black ink off of the embossed image, which acts as a resist.  Pretty cool effect, yes?  Next time I think I’ll just stamp him on white cardstock in yellow ink, then hit him with the black ink.

I added a few rhinestones for a hint of sparkle and visual interest.

Like I said, not my normal style, but this idea has been floating around in my head since I got these stamps 2 weeks ago.  It needed to get out! 🙂

I hope you’re having a lovely day!  Thanks for stopping by!

I think it is bee-utiful! C&S cards are the hardest to design. Each element has to make a strong visual impact, and you accomplished that with your usual amazing sense of design. I love the way you clustered the bee, the honeycomb and the sentiment together, then added that perfect little rhinestone. It makes me think of a drop of honey.

I especially appreciate clean and simple. And I agree with kathycnc about the rhinestones – they perfectly suggest drops of golden honey!
