Happy Wednesday, peoples! It’s just 3 weeks and 1 day (I couldn’t wait until tomorrow to post this, I’m a goof) until Valentine’s Day! Which means I’m still working on crafts themed for that particular holiday, which means you get to see more crafts themed for that particular holiday! I’m using lots of exclamation points today!
I’ve got another tag and pouch combo for you, but this time I tried to make it masculine. Gotta have my bases covered.
Masculine cards/tags/gifts/really anything are harder for me to pull off. I like soft colors, polka dots, flowers, pearls, etc, so I really have to put my mind to it to come up with something not just “gender neutral,” but actually masculine. Hopefully this hits the right note:
The two things I’m most proud of in this project are 1) the key on the tag–I drew it, colored it, shaded it all by myself! And then I added Glossy Accents to make it even better, and 2) the heart-shaped lock on the pouch. I just recently got this beautiful stack of metallic paper (thanks Mom!), but it’s all bright and shiny and perfect and I wanted the gold on this project to look aged. So I set about making it look aged! Here’s a tip for you crafters: solvent-based ink (mine is Memento brand) is made for special surfaces such as foil/metallic paper. Other inks like dye- or pigment-based inks are either impossible to apply on the paper or they take forever (or longer! Yes, longer than forever) to dry. So basically I used a little sponge dauber to apply the ink to the gold paper, heat set it, and then used a black fine-tipped marker (not a Sharpie and not a washable marker) to fine tune the aging process. I finished off the lock with my Glossy Accents- love that stuff!
What do you think? Masculine enough?
